LCD/LED Grade Testing as per IEC 62663

A display panel has one job on the surface — to show a clear image. But in industrial or defence equipment, that's only part of the requirement. The panel also has to be electrically safe and mechanically tough enough to survive continuous field use, not just a demo on a showroom floor.

IEC 62663 grades display against all three of these — electrical safety, mechanical strength, and luminous performance — giving manufacturers a measurable way to prove a panel meets its claimed spec, instead of relying on how it looks in a quick demo.

Testing covers brightness consistency, insulation safety, and physical durability under normal handling. Panels also get checked across different lighting and viewing angles, since a display that reads fine head-on but washes out at an angle isn't actually field-ready.

Why bother with this level of detail? Because a panel that looks fine on day one but flickers or fades within months is a warranty claim waiting to happen. LED module certification under IEC 62663 catches that weakness in the lab, not after deployment.

Aldo Compliance's process:

01

Measuring brightness, contrast, and viewing angle against IEC 62663 benchmarks

02

Verifying insulation resistance and safety clearances through dedicated electrical checks

03

Testing mechanical durability against everyday handling and mounting stress

04

Assigning a final performance grade based on the combined results

FAQs

What products typically need this test?

Industrial control panels, defense display units, and instrumentation equipment come up most often.

Does IEC 62663 cover both LCD and LED technology?

Yes, it applies evaluation criteria to both display types.
